What Is CLJSS? Here’s What We Do + How to Join

What is CLJSS?
The Criminology, Law, and Justice Student Society (CLJSS) is a student-run organization at UIC for anyone interested in criminology, law, justice policy, public safety, courts, corrections, and related careers. Our mission is to engage and empower students of diverse backgrounds to explore CLJ topics and career paths—through events, conferences, networking, leadership, internship and scholarship opportunities, and conversations about current events.
What we do
Here’s what you can expect from CLJSS:
General Body Meetings (GBMs): community + discussion on current events and CLJ topics
Professional development: networking opportunities, career panels, and skill-building
Faculty connection: chances to connect with professors and learn about research/classes
Volunteer opportunities: community service events each semester
Campus involvement: involvement fairs, collaborations, and events across UIC
Who can join?
Membership is open to UIC students, faculty, and staff—and anyone interested in the CLJ community is eligible to join. CLJSS follows UIC’s nondiscrimination policy and is committed to a welcoming environment for all members.
